Thinking About Success
From most to least amount of contribution to success would be hard work, skill, opportunity, and then luck. Hard work would be first because most of the time it takes hard work to develop any skill. For example, you can say you want to be good at painting all day long, but until you practice you won't improve on your ability to paint. Skill would be next because it is important to have skill in the area you are trying to be successful in. Opportunity is also an important factor. For example, If a child has grown up with the desire to paint, but hasn't had the finances to better that skill, then it's less likely for him/her to be successful in that area. Lastly, I believe that luck is only slightly a factor. For example, some people might get lucky and have inherited much wealth that causes them to be successful, but that is pretty rare.
